As I am typing this, Ganj is laying beside me purring loud as hell. She’s happy. I am too. You know, a year ago I never knew I’d be where I am now. I got my dream job, or at least a stepping stone to it, yesterday. This past month, or really past two years, has been a trip and a half. Yesterday, I achieved a huge goal of mine, but also had to let go of a huge part of myself in a way. Those two things aren’t related. I hate my current job. All I am saying is that life can really bring you skyscraper high one moment, then barreling down the next. But hey, that’s what makes it exciting. I’ve wanted to die more than once in my life. Sometimes I still think about it, but not quite as much as I did back then but it’s still something I’m trying to work on. I am glad I am alive. I am glad I have made it past all of the terrible adolescent years, the rough teen years, now hopefully I can get through the young (please I am) adult years. I have made so many friends, learned so much, and lived so much. I want to share that all with you.

I came up with the idea of Mai Haus last night at 2 in the morning. I guess that’s today. After endless talks with so many of my closest friends (hey that’s you!) I have realized that there really are few and far between third spaces for young adults. I don’t love drinking and I really don’t love spending $36 + tip on two drinks. You know what I do love though? I love hosting parties. I have since I moved out at the ripe age of eighteen. I don’t think that’ll ever end. The craft nights I have held have been so much fun, so why not make it a monthly thing? Then I figured, why stop at crafts?

At a recent craft night, filled with a ton of friends I have collected since my return home, we all joked about our next hang out which included karaoke, a trip to the beach, thrifting, a roadtrip to Louisiana, and numerous other things. While we all laughed and continued to add to the extensive and increasingly ridiculous list, I figured why the hell not? Even though no one that night knew each other, we had the best time. There really is no good reason why we can’t do these things. Besides New Orleans, that may be expensive in this economy! So here we are.

This block in particular is really to keep all you updated on my life. We all know I am horrible at answering texts. I am what you’d call an “in-person friend”. So here’s my “newsletter” to keep you guys up-to-date. A kinda diary if you will. Now, I am not that exciting, so don’t expect much besides endless ramblings and manic thoughts.

If you’re interested, I will give admin permissions to whoever so we can all post whatever. Maybe I will make a forum for us? Several? That would be kinda cute. We can all make blog posts about our lives, our art, photos, stories, creative endeavors, whatever really. Offer advice, hold rants, or a support circle. I would like to hear what you all have going on. Maybe this section will be my own diary. I don’t know. Let me know your thoughts.

Man I had this whole beautiful thing written out and I forgot to hit save. Rookie mistake. Anyway, I know this little passion project has only been in the works for a few days, but it has already brought me so much joy. I needed a creative outlet like this after being chained to a desk for the past 6 months in a dull and lifeless place. I miss whimsy. I think this will be good for me. It will be good for all of us. I can’t wait to see what we do and how we grow.

I am happy to announce that Brooke is our Secretary. Welcome to the club Brooke, I am glad that you are here. If any of you other lovely ladies want to be apart of our fabulous Board, shoot me a text. We will find the best position for you or simply just make one up. The world is our oyster.

Other than Mai Haus being a place for us to gather and create, I want to integrate other activities and events too. Here are my ideas so far:

-Wellness days (think yoga, long walks, dance party, really anything to get our bodies moving in a fun, positive, and creative way that won’t harm our minds in the process)

-Seasonal Activities (ice skating, fairs, sporting events, pumpkin patch, farmers market etc.)

-Community events (festivals, protests, etc.)

-Cultural and educational enrichment days (lectures/speaker series, workshops, trips to the public library, museum visits, etc.)

-Book club (may be a bit tricky with our busy lives, but I have always wanted to be a part of a book club)

-Witchy things (rituals, spell jar making, tarot card readings, chart mapping/breakdown—Sam and Lyndsay this is all you!)

-Quarterly nights on the town (bars, restaurants, movies/drive in, karaoke, etc)

-Shopping endeavors (craft supply runs, thrifting, mall, etc.)

-Day trips (within NY or Canada)

-Beauty days (salons are expensive and I love a good DIY. We can paint our nails and do face masks like the girls in the movies… minus the pillow fights. Unless….)

-Trips (obviously a future plan, but how cool would it be to make our New Orleans and Salem dreams happen? And how about the beach!)

That’s all I can remember from my original list. I am sure I am forgetting a whole world of it. Who knows what else I’ll come up with. I’ll keep you all updated. Let me know if you have any events or activities you’d like to do, I’d love to hear and make it happen.

Alright that is all for now. Thanks for reading my thoughts, more to come soon. Thanks for being here. I love you bunches.
